Adventures in Arizona, Part II
Montezuma’s Well was fun, but it wasn’t exactly a huge park, and my actual destination was still almost two hours away, so I had to leave. Exiting the park entrance road, I was going to head back the way that I came in to get back to the interstate. There was a giant sign indicating that I really should turn in the opposite direction, though, in order to get there. A quick consultation of a map showed that I had traveled north a decent distance in order to get to the park. Since I was continuing north, the large sign in front of me was probably right–why bother backtracking, right? So I make the turn…
Shortly thereafter, I see a tiny sign saying “pavement ends.” About a half-second after I saw the sign, I felt what the sign was trying to tell me: There was no longer a smooth, fully-encapsulated aggregate (asphalt) road, but about a lane and a half worth of kind-of flat open space that somewhat resembled a road. I thought about turning back, then decided that I wanted the adventure. I don’t know if that little rented Corolla will ever be the same. The road did actually lead to the interstate that I needed, too.
I then proceeded to make my way to the Canyon. Wow. Awesome. The following are some of the pictures I took while there.
