Did it rain at the Arts Festival? That’s a silly question…
I saw these two walking through the rain while I was waiting for my wife and sister-in-law to get some foodstuffs. This pretty much sums-up much of the opening weekend for the Three Rivers Arts Festival. We had a great time seeing some great artists and listening to some fun music, but not without some interesting weather. Friday, we spent most of the evening under tiny, leaking umbrellas. We stayed partially dry, but were pretty comfortable because we had dressed expecting rain. For Saturday, we bought new, giant, non-leaking umbrellas and brought our chairs, so the comfort level was raised dramatically. We almost pressed the abort button due to some torrential downpours, but decided (after eating inside, where it was dry) to give it a shot, and boy were we glad that we did. We were treated to great shows by Good Brother Earl and Guster with virtually no rain. We heard a few people talking about fireworks, and found out that there were going to be some after the Pirate game. So we finished-out the evening standing by the side of the Allegheny and watching the fireworks show (interrupted several times while Collective Soul played some music in the stadium, which we couldn’t hear; we got a kick out of watching them thrashing dramatically on the jumbotron while we heard almost nothing). It was a good weekend, though not so great for photos at the festival. I might be able to try again later this week.
