House and Home

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, readers!  Jenny and I went to First Night Pittsburgh last night for our New Year’s celebration.   This is the second year that we’ve gone, and we had a great time.  Last year was really rainy, and a lot of the events suffered for it.  This year was cold, but otherwise dry.  It was a fun atmosphere.  One of the galleries that we stopped in to browse had two paintings that we purchased for the house.  One of them is an alley that looks remarkably like many of the Amsterdam streets that we walked a few months ago, and another one was of the Round Island Lighthouse near Mackinac Island, Michigan.  My parents bought a set of pictures of lighthouses for us before we started on the living room restoration, and our plan the entire time was to hang them in the living room when we were finished.  We haven’t actually hung them yet, but I saw this painting and thought that it would work remarkably well with the others.

Today, we woke up to watch the Rose Parade, and now we’re sitting with our cats, curled-up in afghans while the cold wind blows outside.  I want to get some work done in the woodshop later today, and we might head up to my parents’ for dinner at some point.  We’re planning for a relaxing day.  🙂

Jonathan does a lot of stuff. If you ask Jenny, maybe he does too much stuff.
